"Here is the harsh reality: you may not be everything to somebody. You may not be the reason it is four a.m. and that boy with the chocolate eyes isn’t sleeping. You may not be the reason his strong arms tighten around a pillow just for something to touch.  You may not be the reason saltwater hits his pillow, coating it in a layer so thick it is practically it’s own ocean. You may not be the one he dreams of when the sea beneath his irises finally calms.
But that doesn’t matter. Because you are everything to yourself. You are the reason you wake each morning. You are the reason you write or paint or sing. You are the reason you prefer black tea to green tea or like exactly two tea spoons of sugar in your morning coffee. You are the reason you want to learn a foreign language and visit new places. You have legs that carry you anywhere you wish and eyes that perceive the whole world and lungs that breath in air. You are stardust, atoms born of the sun and moon and stars, and you have a whole galaxy within you. And you do not appreciate it enough because you’re waiting to be someone else’s everything. You are already your own everything. And that is enough."
